You'll hear me repeat it until my dying day: "BARE FEET = HAPPY LIFE!" ...It's THAT simple!

One Day Without Shoes 2013.. TOM'S Shoes Gives Back!

If you happened to notice one or more people yesterday, barefoot in places you might not expect bare feet (i.e. class, malls, stores, your workplace, etc. etc.), chances are they were participating in Tom's Shoe Company's annual "One Day Without Shoes" charity event, which is designed to raise awareness of the plight of poor children in 3rd world countries who can't afford even one single pair of shoes. I gotta give credit to Tom's though, because they definitely put their corporate money where their mouth is. I'm not a huge fan of the shoe brand itself (to me, they kinda' look like Granny slippers), but for every pair of shoes purchased, the company sends a pair of shoes to a poor, impoverished child overseas, calling this act, "One for One". That is GIGANTIC, and really speaks well of a company trying to actually make a positive difference in the world, where positive deeds seem to be in short supply these days. I couldn't take part yesterday, because my job is definitely too dangerous & too gross to be running around barefoot at. However, I'll be retiring from that field soon, so next year, don't be surprised if I'm strolling in the local mall, or supermarket, or anywhere else, in blue jeans & completely barefoot. ..Hah, but for those of you who know me, that's the norm for me on hot spring & summer days anyway. I just don't ever feel like wearing shoes, and have been told, over the course of my life, more times than I can count, "Uh sir, you know you're not supposed to be barefoot in here?".. LOL.. Oh well! It's who I am! I loved being barefoot looooooooong before there was ever a charity movement of going barefoot for a day! Still, kudos to Tom's Shoes! Support 'em!  :)
Take off your shoes and let's see your feet, for a GREAT cause!

  1. It's been debated on the SBL forum that Tom's is actually taking business away from local shoe makers in the region that they send these free shoes to.

Some see the whole thing as a fraud or a con. Check this out as to why Tom's might not be such a good idea:http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DmTmx3z6be8
