Summer's Coming 2013? Bare Feet Ready?!

Ruby's cute monkey toes, gettin'
some Vitamin D rays!
It's been an incredible run of weather the last few days in NY, perfect for bare feet or flip-flops, blue jeans, and no jackets. My sweet, priceless, & beautiful friend Ruby and I enjoyed a fun, silly game of "toes trading" all week, sending each other our warm-weather lovin', sunshine craving (and yes, both happily super-ticklish! LoL!) bare feet from periodic points throughout our respective days. She was at a Phillies game, and relaxing in her yard, and I was stuck at work..(not really working hard though, just dreaming of more & more bare feet days in my life).. But you can't stop the power of "takin' shoes off"! Now as the weather gets nicer and nicer, hopefully those of you that love being barefoot like us remember to take care of your feetsies! NO one like shitty feet, so get to your local pedi place, and get those dogs cleaned up! Treat your Asian girls nicely! ;) ..And then go enjoy some sunshine fun, no shoes required!
Sending Ruby MY stellar bare feet, with love, from a sunny NYC rooftop!

Signing off this week's blog with an important reminder of what's important,
with love, from Ruby  :)

Tales of the Ticklish: Nicole's Amazing & Contagious Laugh!

My lifelong pal Nicole and I have been bare feet friends (meaning we never wear shoes if we can at all help it) since we were little tykes in kindergarten, and it's meant a lifetime of happy, silly laughter between two friends that are more like brother & sister now, today, in 2013! But the hilarious part just stems from the fact that Nicole has always loved tickling people, getting great pleasure out of making them laugh, whether on the bottoms of their feet, under their arms, & or by poking them in their ribs..basically anyplace she could get someone laughing! And, as we were growing up in the 70's & 80's, I was easily the most frequent target of those tickle attacks, being the only boy on the block with five other awesome girls, (this was NOT a bad thing, I promise! LOL!!), and these crazy, fun times always seemed to occur during Friday night dinner gatherings. We lived on a cul-de-sac, and our parents used to eat together every Friday night, almost like clockwork (It was kinda' their way to wind down at the end of another workweek). Traditionally, while they sat in the dining room, eating dinner, conversing, and having a few drinks, all of us kids were left to entertain ourselves downstairs in the basement den. Shoes were never allowed in the basement den, so bare feet were always available and ready for sneak attacks (that weren't really sneaky at all, but more like a tiger pouncing on its prey!) Even now, as "grown-ups", Nicole & I are always giving each other foot massages (with a bottle of red wine as a massage enhancer.. LOL!) because they feel amazing, and foot massages are one of life's most overlooked treats.. But never, ever does it just stay at the massage level! Nope, it takes all of five minutes before massage turns to fingernails lightly raking across bare soles, and the laughing & spasming begins again! So, one day we were talking about seeing somebody getting their bare feet tickled on TV, by a SonicCare toothbrush (those brushes that move at supersonic speed), and wondering how much it would tickle, because that person being tickled was absolutely screeeeeeaming with laughter.. Well, wonder no more! We got a brush and tested it on Nicole's soles, and impromptly filmed it for youtube! LOL! Why not! Laughter this contagious MUST be shared with the world! (I can't believe I hadn't blogged about this yet, because it's been almost 18 months since!) ..Nicole's laughing here will brighten anybody's day, no matter how shitty that day is, so please sit back & enjoy this 75 seconds of hilarity! ..Nic has wanted to film a sequel to this for over a year, with her sitting on my ankles tickling my bare soles with the toothbrush, but life & parental duties always get in the way! But rest assured, when we do finally film it, it'll be posted & blogged about, since that's only fair! Let's laugh it up, my friends! :)

One Day Without Shoes 2013.. TOM'S Shoes Gives Back!

If you happened to notice one or more people yesterday, barefoot in places you might not expect bare feet (i.e. class, malls, stores, your workplace, etc. etc.), chances are they were participating in Tom's Shoe Company's annual "One Day Without Shoes" charity event, which is designed to raise awareness of the plight of poor children in 3rd world countries who can't afford even one single pair of shoes. I gotta give credit to Tom's though, because they definitely put their corporate money where their mouth is. I'm not a huge fan of the shoe brand itself (to me, they kinda' look like Granny slippers), but for every pair of shoes purchased, the company sends a pair of shoes to a poor, impoverished child overseas, calling this act, "One for One". That is GIGANTIC, and really speaks well of a company trying to actually make a positive difference in the world, where positive deeds seem to be in short supply these days. I couldn't take part yesterday, because my job is definitely too dangerous & too gross to be running around barefoot at. However, I'll be retiring from that field soon, so next year, don't be surprised if I'm strolling in the local mall, or supermarket, or anywhere else, in blue jeans & completely barefoot. ..Hah, but for those of you who know me, that's the norm for me on hot spring & summer days anyway. I just don't ever feel like wearing shoes, and have been told, over the course of my life, more times than I can count, "Uh sir, you know you're not supposed to be barefoot in here?".. LOL.. Oh well! It's who I am! I loved being barefoot looooooooong before there was ever a charity movement of going barefoot for a day! Still, kudos to Tom's Shoes! Support 'em!  :)
Take off your shoes and let's see your feet, for a GREAT cause!
